Her Knight

There she stood expectantly at the icy bridge.
Waiting.
She glanced around.
She is wearing the only clothing she has. Everything she owns is way to big for her.
Sighing and tearing up, she left the bridge and went home.
Her mother smiled at her arrival, though that smile did not reach her eyes.
Her father glared at her as she walked to her room.
"I'm sorry that I helped create that little wench. She's nothing like you."
"And soon, we will be able to start over and raise the perfect child."
"That wench upstairs is dead to us."

The next day she went back to the bridge and waited once more.
Waiting for her knight to steal this pain from her.
"Jump!" cried a stranger who passed by.
And she did just that.
The ice water consumed the body heat that had.
She let herself sink further.
She inhaled the water and let it slowly fill her lungs.
Darkness consumed her sight, her head felt fuzzy.
Ah, at last, her knight is here.
